the waters are dark...

Temple of Isis at Philae, flood time 1910 By Diemer Michael Zeno (1867-1939)  Watercolor on paper

the waters are dark
but the sun shines

the sun shines on
the sacred breath
of a lady
who levelled
rich and poor
slaves and free

who nurtured the world of a child

and yet

she found time
for the beyond
the final call

and her final call
her magic
still
floats
in the sunshine

on dark waters

tech savvy sheep...

Sheep with Laptops Michael Sowa (1945- )

sheep in the 21st century
need to flock around
the latest
internet
wizardry

we have
dignity
we have
status

we have
a caricature to uphold

forgive the odd black sheep

he is with us
but
not
of us

In the Foliage

Eduard Gaertner (1801-1877) Germany - The Family of Mr. Westfal in the Conservatory (1836)

A controlled garden
A hint of formal dining
In formal dress
Faces strained in fixed pose
Waiting for the photograph of time

And
A stray toy carriage
Seems lost

And a dog hopes for
Some game...

Trees aching for sleep
Filtering white silence
Small pilgrims
Remembering
