In the mystical hour...

Joseph Zbukvic - Santa Maria de la Salute at Sunset, Venice
- Australian watercolourist from Yugoslovia
His website is HERE

When waters sleep in silken cradles

When boats idle in the lilt of tides

When evening mystical tears
Weep their secrets

Wings spin the song of

Final lights

The Tagores

Gaganendranath Tagore (1867—1938) painting of Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941).
Gaganendranath was Rabindranath's nephew.

Any room is an everywhere
Breathing in the spirit of the moment
Respecting its colours
Its tones
Its music

Any tree is a teacher
Watching
Listening for
The voices on the winds

Any journey is a chance
To bathe in the minds of
A Yeats
An Einstein
A Thomas Mann
A Gandhi

Any prize along the way is a
Time to give to
Others

In my coffee...

Hong Yi ~ Coffee Cup Stains Portrait
This portrait was inspired by Jay Chou's song/album Secret.
(Jay Chou now has a wax model at Madame Tussaud's mueum in Thailand.)
Her blog is Oh I See Red
She paints in unusual mediums and has a Master Of Architecture from the University of Melbourne.

In the coffee season
Your taste was warm
And lingering

I sipped
Smiling
Content in the
Flavour of
Your beauty

I drank my cup
Slowly
Sipping
The fragrance of
Our virtual heaven
Longing for the warmth
To last

But
Sadly
You had finished yours
While it was hot

Huffington Post reported that she made a portrait from 750 pairs of socks

Two Waterfalls

Rafael Saldana (1930-2000) ~ Two Waterfalls
Rafael lived in Liffey, a hamlet in northern Tasmania, facing Dry's Bluff in the Western Tiers.
He enjoyed painting whimsical interpretations of his environment.
Many of his paintings are now available on postcards.
This is my photo of one of them.

Deep in a mossy gully
Where a waterfall
Spills
Her soul

My earth
Feels close
To you

Einstein

Givi Sproshvili b.1940 in Georgia ~ Einstein

Think Einstein
Think relativity
A popular
Stereotypical
Liaison

But Einstein was more

He was a man
Re-framing identity

Cultural
Spiritual
Zionism
An injection of humanity

As if
His life was
Not chained to Jewish politics
(He lived in
Germany
Italy
Switzerland and
The United States)
But about any
Universal
Unfettered
Life force
Connections

A man with his
Pipe of peace
Leaning
Moving
Dreaming
Forward

More on Einstein and Zionism HERE

Moonlight

John Atkinson Grimshaw (1836-1893) ~ The Old Hall Under Moonlight
This oil painter became known as the Victorian painter of moonlight.

In the lonely serenade of moonlight mists
Through the stark notes of naked trees
I see the pale lights of our music
Still dancing

In a sandalwood world...

Paul Jacoulet (1902-1960) born in France but raised in Japan - printmaker - Sandalwood Smoke 1948

Eastern dreaming
A world of nightingales
Butterflies
Flowers and
Willow patterned bridges
Drizzled with scents of
Sandalwood
Dust

In the Foliage

Eduard Gaertner (1801-1877) Germany - The Family of Mr. Westfal in the Conservatory (1836)

A controlled garden
A hint of formal dining
In formal dress
Faces strained in fixed pose
Waiting for the photograph of time

And
A stray toy carriage
Seems lost

And a dog hopes for
Some game...

Park Bench in Waiting...

William Merritt Chase (1849-1916) - Indiana, USA - Park Bench - In the Park series

A sitting space
Enfolded in the arms of
Warm woods...

A pause in
The scuffle of
Journeys...

Where you can be the centre of the universe
And time evolves
Around you...
