Ross Bridge...

Ross Bridge, Tasmania by Rev Norris Brook...
Rev Norris Brook was a minister at the Yagoona Baptist Church, N.S.W. in the early '60's.
He and his wife Ethel had 2 boys - Craig and Dean...
( He began attending the N.S.W. Baptist Theological College in 1954.
Rev Ron Hansard was in his year.)
I think there was a daughter too, but I am not sure...
As a sideline to his ministry, he loved to paint in oils...
I loved mountains... and he painted a snow-capped mountain by water for me...
The painting above is the only example of his work that I have found online...

grim weathered landscape
a vital bridge
bathed in white light

Eastern Dream...

Eastern Dream (1904) Jean Lecomte Du Nouÿ (1842-1923)  Oil on canvas

when I sleep
in your world
I awaken
the spirit of
your eyes
your nearness
your breathing

I feel the wings
of your presence
bearing the joys of
our yesterdays

closer
and
closer

the voyage of life: manhood oil on canvas, 1840 by Thomas Cole (1801-1848)

in the grottos of light and shadow
snagged with old rocks and
old trees
the waters appear to flow

effortlessly

There's a room...

Franz Sedlacek (1891-1945) Song in the Twilight (Lied in der Dämmerung) - Oil on canvas - 1931

There's a room in my mind that is
A little Dali and
A little Magritte
Where Gothic cords slip
Like ghostly skaters in
Foreign realities
Where dark wings
Breeze and
Siren colours
Pulse
An invitation to be
Another

There's a room in my mind that is
A little Dali and
A little Magritte
Where Sedlacek dreams are
Welcome

Eagle Point

Garry Purcell (Melbourne, Australia) ~ Eagle Point - Lake King (oil)
~

I wandered with you
A long time ago
The weekend was our time
To just be in
 Open grasslands
Wetlands
Wild trees and
Wildflowers
I was just a young child
But you were my guide
My spirit
My father

A new waiting
Waiting for some leaf
Some green leaf

In the eyes...

~

Gentle face
An innocent palette
Smiling
A little
Waiting for
The carvings of experience to
Etch their footprint

But in the eyes
A secret
Hollow sadness
Resigned to watching
Freedom
Pass by

Northern Summer Reverie

Sergei Aparin - Born in Voronezh, Russia in 1961. This painting is entitled July - oil on canvas
~

We are three

Screening the tides of old waves
Prodding the depths of new

And one elects to be overseer

The clear one
Becalmed in still waters
The centre
The centrifugal force
Apparently there
Dependent on the competitive tensions of
Yesterday and tomorrow

Going somewhere and
Gone

We are three
But I am ONE
