When waters sleep in silken cradles
When boats idle in the lilt of tides
When evening mystical tears
Weep their secrets
Wings spin the song of
Final lights

'When evening mystical tears
Weep their secrets'~ love this line~ nice description of picture and petite poem
Wonderful mystery of the wings--birds, angels--around shape of calm waters. And to spin lights out! Beautiful! "Final" is a hard word, but if the moment is truly a final one, gently we may go into the dark night ...
Such a lovely description of Venice. I enjoyed it so much, Gemma, and the water colour accompaniment is perfect.
Oh, and thank you for your comment on my silly bus limerick. I deleted the part about Australia running on its own time, because my friend had that experience with a tourist bus, not a properly scheduled bus, and it was many years ago. She and her companion actually jumped into a taxi and said, "Follow that bus!" and the taxi driver enjoyed himself so much, he only charged the young women half fare after he had seen them safely onto the bus.

The water does look silky and the "final lights" shimmer just as the sun sets - the birds soon to be settled for the night. Beautiful.
Your words are beautiful and adorn the image with perfection.
